On May 20, 2026, an official ceremony was held at the Student HUB to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishing the joint "Center for Digital Health" between Etugen University and Seoul National University (SNU).
The MoU was officially signed and finalized by Professor Kim Hong-Gee, representing Seoul National University, and Rector, Dr., Professor B. Batsereedene, representing Etugen University. The ceremony opened solemnly with a traditional Morin Khuur performance by medical student A. Odbayar.
The opening ceremony brought together distinguished guests and leadership, including SNU Professor Kim Hong-Gee; B. Bayarbaatar, Director of the Center for Digital Health, Digital Health Scientist at Samsung Medical Center (ROK), and 2015 Etugen alumnus; Ch. Bataa representing UNICEF Mongolia; Academician S. Nyamzagd, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Etugen University; Rector Dr. B. Batsereedene; Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ts. Munguntsetseg; Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Foreign Relations Dr. B. Nasanbayar; and Vice-Rector for Social and Economic Development N. Badamsuren, alongside school deans, department heads, and student representatives.
During the delegation meeting, Academician S. Nyamzagd delivered an introductory presentation and exchanged strategic insights with the delegates.
Following the ceremony, B. Bayarbaatar, Director of the SNU-Etugen Center for Digital Health, presented the operational roadmap and core mission of the center. He emphasized:
"With the establishment of this center, we will localize AI-driven diagnostic imaging and digital health advancements within Mongolia's medical sector. Furthermore, it creates invaluable opportunities for our students to participate in world-class research and develop into highly skilled, internationally competitive professionals."
Guest speakers Professor Kim Hong-Gee and UNICEF Representative Ch. Bataa highlighted the broader societal impact, stating:
"This partnership between two prestigious universities will not only accelerate the digital transformation of healthcare, but also play a vital role in safeguarding youth and public health through technology-driven, accessible care."
Addressing the guests, Etugen Rector Dr. B. Batsereedene stated:
"Expanding our international cooperation—specifically opening a digital health center in partnership with world-leading Seoul National University—is a historic milestone for our institution. We are fully committed to supporting the center's growth and operations, and we are delighted that you are all here to witness history today."
The Center for Digital Health is established to advance interdisciplinary research, education, and innovation in digital health, clinical artificial intelligence, and health data science, driving joint research initiatives and expanding international academic collaboration.
